The Living Word - This class takes an in-depth look at the Bible, aided by various publications, reference material and commentaries that provide background information and questions to stimulate discussion. This class meets in the Library in the Fellowship Hall with teacher Fred McFee. Currently, they are looking at Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians). This epistle in the Christian Holy Bible describes Christians living in a culture in many respects like our own, with many of the same temptations and problems. First Corinthians is uniquely a book for our time. Please come and join us. Everyone is welcome.
The Present Word is an adult Bible study that uses materials published quarterly by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The series of studies feature great events from the Bible, where teachers and learners come together to reflect, discuss, and act on what they discover there. The fall quarter considers some of the people God chose to be covenant leaders, the invitations God has offered to enter into community, people’s responses to the invitations, and the nature of God’s new covenant community. This class meets at 9:45 a.m. and again at 11:00 a.m. in the Pastor's Study. Joe Barnett and Fred Friedrich are the facilitators at the 9:45 a.m. class and John Maddera facilitates the 11:00 a.m. class. Please feel to jump into the Present Word and allow your life to be touched by God’s grace.
A Word of Faith for Families - This class focuses on the complex issues and day-to-day challenges of families and raising children in the Christian tradition. It is offered at 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall with facilitator Jennifer Goocher, and again at 11:00 a.m. in the Library with facilitator Mary Ann Bleiler. The 9:45 a.m. class is studying Love and Respect, a marriage message with a difference, based on over three decades of counseling, as well as scientific and biblical research. The 11:00 a.m. class is studying Max Lucado's book, Fearless: Imagine Life Without Fear. All are welcome.
Other studies are offered at various times throughout the year during the Sunday School hour. Watch our newsletter for information on upcoming classes.
