Most of the KICKs special events are around the major Christian holidays.
Easter – The church offers several special services including a children’s sermon and time in God’s Big House (Children’s Church, mentioned below). Each year is altered slightly but mostly our time together involves telling the Children’s version of the Resurrection of Jesus, told through the Resurrection Eggs. We may follow up with a fun, relating craft and close our time together with an egg hunt. We try to have the egg hunt closer to the end of the service so families can attend together.
Vacation Bible School – Each summer RRPC offers a five day VBS program. During VBS the children get to learn new songs, make crafts, play outdoor games and have small group time.. all about one central theme. We have a great time while learning about God's love!
The Fall Festival – Each October the church hosts a fall festival for families in the community. The children are encouraged to wear their costumes and enjoy the fun. There are carnival like games, treats, a bouncy house and more. The families are encouraged to decorate the trunks of their cars for fun prizes as well as passing out candy to the children during ‘trunk or treat’. It’s designed to be a safe and fun way to celebrate Halloween.
Advent Workshop – Before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season begins we host a workshop for the families to celebrate the season. We have several stations set up for the children to make an advent wreath, an advent calendar, fun picture frames, and more. Each year the stations may change slightly except the advent wreath station. This activity has become a favorite and an important message to remember why we are celebrating the Christmas season.
Through out the year we may try to fit in an occasional gathering for the children just to keep everyone acquainted. We have a great time together and hope you will consider joining us for future events.
